Changing lives through horsemanship...
This is about much more than riding horses.
For almost three decades, Shawna Dahl has been leading a safe, structured and trusted horsemanship program for children and adults of all ages and levels of experience, from a unique ranch in the foothills of California, near Yosemite National Park. Shawna has focused on combining the surrounding beauty of nature and her special horses, with a purposeful disconnection to our modern, digital world. Step through the gate, take a breath in and visitors immediately feel the calm, quiet and peaceful setting the Dahl Ranch has to offer. Helping individuals develop essential life skills has become a way of life here. Horses are the medium used to practice what needs to be learned, in a supportive and inclusive environment, while creating connection, social integration and peer interaction. Horses require intellectual intelligence like confidence, communication, trust, respect, awareness, honesty, self-management, responsibility, focus and resilience. In addition, a few of the physical attributes that must be attained while learning how to develop a partnership safely with the horse, a half ton animal that doesn’t speak our “common” language, are posture, balance, breath and range of motion. These skills are practiced, learned and developed in a fun and safe, nurturing yet challenging, secure environment, and have proven to transfer outside the gates of Dahl Ranch into our relationship with ourselves and others. Please connect to find out how Shawna Dahl and her program may benefit you, your family, your organization and community. |
